Update 1: Something New

Wednesday, October 12, 2022

Yes, I have moved on from the online format of thisisrangefinder.com. I took the summer to be away from Instagram and most all social media. During this time, I continued to take just as many photos as I had before but kept them to print and look at myself instead of ‘needlessly’ sharing them with the world. I also created my first full sized magazine over the summer. 28 pages of images and stories titled ‘Rangefinder: Volume #1.’ As soon as I got the first test copy in my hands, I knew the online format of the Rangefinder website and Instagram page was over. There is nothing that beats a physical print publication in the world of photography as far as I am concerned.

I sat on the magazine copy for months and shared it with very few people, and this is what made me appreciate it more. So, from now on Rangefinder will only live in print form, and most likely only in my possession. Thank you to those of you that were stoked on Rangefinder, and you can still find many of those stories and articles here on this site.

Now that I am transitioning those style stories to my own personal site, I hope to do a much better job updating regularly, whether that be in long for stories like I did with Rangefinder, or quick ‘Journal’ posts like this one here. Either way, Instagram is a pretty bad place to let your images live, so I hope to create some place more meaningful, in my eyes, for my work to be shared.
