Welcome Back, Rangefinder!
After a couple year hiatus, I have brought back my original website - Rangefinder. However, it now will operate in a different manner than previously.
A few years ago I put together this website to share my love for all things outdoors. Naturally that coincided with the photographic world, and I finally had a place where I could put up long form stories documenting the trips I was taking. This clearly is the opposite approach to how people view images on Instagram, and that was by design.
This website was born out of the distaste I grew towards the - take a neat picture, post it, repeat - cycle that everyone falls into with social media. I wanted a place to tell the full stories, with more information - a place with intention.
Eventually, I began sharing some stories from others on the page and we had a small collection of people contributing. But in the end, I decided to keep it all to myself - yes, selfishly. I adapted the website into a personal page for my work and kept the articles I had written up, but without a way to pay someone for their time and efforts contributing to the website, I opted for something different.
While thisisrangefinder.com may have died then, I created a print publication of the articles I had written. The Rangefinder name turned into a one-off magazine where I designed my own 8.5x11 magazines for myself - as a sort of physical documentation of these stories.
I will continue to make these magazines as the years go by, and for now I have no plans to make them public. However, I will keep adding stories and things here, to this blog. So, feel free to stick around if you’re interested and I am hoping to keep posting here much more frequently than I have been over the past couple years!
So, please stick around and leave your email below to sign up for the rangefinder newsletter.
